Exchequer Accounting and Business system short-listed as Software Product of the Year in the Construction Computing Awards 2006.

The Exchequer Accounting and Business system from IRIS Enterprise has been short-listed as Software Product of the Year in the Construction Computing Awards 2006 This is the first time the system has been short-listed for these Awards which are designed to recognise and reward the technology, tools and solutions for effective design, construction, maintenance and modification of commercial building, residential and social housing and civil engineering projects of all sizes

The winners will be chosen by readers of Construction Computing Magazine and will be announced at an Awards Ceremony on the 22nd November to be held at the Russell Hotel in London.

The Exchequer Accounting and Business System (www.iris.co.uk/exchequer) is extensively used within the Construction Industry and users include Michael Parker Homes , Stan Randell and Co, Geddes Group, Russell Brothers Building, Barry Howard Homes and JE Stacey.

The latest version of the software, to be released early in 2007 will incorporate key functionality to allow contractors to easily manage the administration associated with the new Construction Industry scheme due to come into force in April 2007.

The new scheme will affect 250,000 contractors and 2 million sub-contractors.

The three key changes are:.

* Cards and certificates will be replaced with a 'verification' service to confirm whether a sub contractor should be paid gross or net.

* Instead of issuing vouchers, contractors will make monthly returns (CIS300) and issue payment/deduction statements for sub contractors.

* The monthly return will include a declaration that the contractor has considered the status on the return and that none of them is an employee.

Version 5.71 of the software will enable those involved in the Industry to cope easily with the changes.

New functionality includes:.

* Online monthly return (CIS 300).

* Sub contractors' payments and deductions statement.

* Utilisation of 18% and 30% rates.

* A dashboard for managing communication with the Government Gateway.

* An option to verify the status of a sub-contractor via the Government Gateway.

* On-screen validation of the UTR and verification numbers on the sub-contractor's record.
