Irwin Supports Young Professionals At Skillbuild

An Irwin Industrial Tool Company product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team May 10, 2004

Irwin Industrial Tool Company, the UK's leading manufacturer of hand tools and power tool accessories, has become a high profile sponsor of this year's Skillbuild competition.

The most influential time in any tradespersons career is during their training and throughout their apprenticeship, which is why the Irwin Industrial Tool Company, the UK's leading manufacturer of hand tools and power tool accessories, has become a high profile sponsor of this year's Skillbuild competition.

The Irwin Industrial Tool Company is supporting young trades-people in the national Skillbuild competition, which promotes excellence amongst young craftspeople in the UK, by sponsoring all of the wood trade categories.

With its sponsorship of Skillbuild, Irwin is actively helping to raise the profile of construction skills in the UK and influence young people to consider the construction industry as a career opportunity.

Skillbuild, along with its key sponsors, aims to provide a framework within which young people have the opportunity to display their trade skills in a competitive, professional and educational environment.

Each year, trainees from a wide variety of trades, from carpentry and plastering through to roofing and plumbing, are invited from UK colleges of further education and independent training centres to take part in a series of regional competitions to test their skills and abilities.

The best regional competitor goes forward to the national final, where the top young trainee in the UK is identified within each trade discipline.

Ultimately, in some skill categories, competitors go forward to represent the entire UK in the World Skills Competition, Skill Olympics.

Irwin - formerly Record Tools - is responsible for the manufacture of quality tools such as Record Vices, Marples Chisels and Jack Saws - is not content with just manufacturing the world's finest range of tools, the company believes tradesmen of all levels deserve a service dedicated to helping them get the most from their careers - and that includes their tools! That's why Irwin and its Job Site Phoenix Team, a group of highly trained industry professionals whose role is to offer advice and demonstrations on the world leading tools from Irwin, will continue to support competitors of Skillbuild at every step of the way.
