Sharp and snappy solution from irwin

An Irwin Industrial Tool Company product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Sep 15, 2005

Irwin Industrial Tool Company has developed the new time saving, Standard and Pro-Touch Auto-load Snap-Off Blade Knives.

Every professional tradesman will tell you that a utility knife is not of much use to anyone if the blade is hard to extend or retract.

For this simple reason the Irwin Industrial Tool Company, the UK's leading manufacturer of hand tools and power tool accessories, has developed the new time saving, Standard and Pro-Touch Auto-load Snap-Off Blade Knives.

Available in both 9mm and 18mm, the Irwin Pro-Touch Auto-Load Snap-Off Blade Knife has been specifically designed to automatically reload as the used blade is ejected - for fast replacement of the sharp blade edge.

Providing a particularly slim nose design for maximum visibility and a secure hinged end cap, the Irwin Pro-Touch Auto-Load Snap Off Blade Knife can also hold three blades in the reload cartridge located within the main body of the! knife.

Boasting a lightweight, hardwearing aluminium body with soft touch for extra comfort in use, the tool also benefits from the strong stainless steel slider and a robust auto-lock slider button to securely hold the blade in place.

Possessing a tough ABS body, again incorporating extra texturing for additional grip and comfort in use, the Standard Snap-Off Blade Knife also boasts an auto-lock slider button, stainless steel slider and a hinged end cap that stays in place during blade changes, ensuring optimum safety.

As with the Irwin Pro-Touch Auto-Load Snap Off Blade Knife, the Irwin Standard Snap-Off Blade version is available in two sizes.

The 9mm is ideal for light duty work, such as cutting wallpaper, card or packaging, whilst the 18mm knife is ideally suited to general maintenance jobs.

In addition, the Standard Snap-Off Blade Knife can hold two spare blades in a specially designed carrier incorporated into the body of the tool.

Pail Bailey, trade marketing manager for Irwin, commented: "The development of these products has resulted in two knives that professional tradespeople will truly appreciate".

"The time saving incorporation of the handy auto-load feature that has been built in to the Irwin Pro-Touch Auto Load version will allow the user to get the job done, whilst reducing the frustrations sometimes experienced on the job." The Irwin Pro-Touch Auto-Load Snap-Off Blade Knife costs GBP9.34 (RRP) for the 18mm knife and GBP6.99 (RRP) for the 9mm version.

The Irwin Standard Snap-Off Blade Knife costs GBP5.45 (RRP) for the 18mm knife and GBP4.55 (RRP) for the 9mm version.

All products are available from leading tool stockists and merchants.
