ISG builds new MRI scanner suite in Cheshire

ISG has started work on a GBP780K project for leading private hospital provider Spire Healthcare, to build a new state-of-the-art MRI scanner suite at the Spire Cheshire Hospital in Warrington.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses a powerful magnet and sophisticated computer technology to produce detailed images of the body without the need for X-rays.

The purpose-built suite will provide a new permanent MRI facility at the top Cheshire hospital and will be used by clinicians to detect injuries and disease in patients.

The extension will also house an observation room for the scanner operator, two consulting rooms, a reception and waiting room area, along with welfare facilities and a small changing room.

Located to the rear of the existing building, the new single-storey extension has been specifically designed to enable the hospital to easily add a second storey if additional capacity is required in the future.

The building will blend seamlessly with the existing hospital and feature a brick facade, with aluminium frame windows and a flat roof with a performance membrane.

The project is scheduled for completion in October 2008.
