ISG Totty secure GBP4.5 million project with St Paul's Developments Plc to build a new office development at Smithy Wood, Sheffield.

ISG Totty has secured a GBP4.5 million project with St Paul's Developments Plc to build a new office development at the 25-acre former open cast mining site at Smithy Wood, Sheffield.

The strategically important site, which is located adjacent to Junction 35 of the M1 motorway, is set to become a key regional business, office and distribution park, with the first phase of development seeing the construction of six office buildings.

The contemporary designed two-storey steel frame offices feature solar shading, with render and metal cladding to the exterior elevations.

Ranging in size from 5,000 to 10,000 sq ft, the high specification buildings include comfort cooling, raised access floors and suspended ceilings, and are 'Secured by Design' and aim to achieve a very good BREEAM rating.

Externally, ISG Totty will carry out hard and soft landscaping finishes, provide a number of car parking spaces and cycle storage areas.

This first phase of development at the Smithy Wood site is due for completion by the end of the year.

John Gittins, managing director of ISG Totty, commented: "The regeneration of the former coalfield site at Smithy Wood is set to provide a major boost to the regional economy, providing high quality office accommodation in an excellent purpose-built location close to major northern conurbations".

"The master plan for the entire site is certainly exciting and I am delighted that ISG Totty will play such a major role in this key regional development".

Dennis Enuson, Project Manager for developers St Paul's says; "We are delighted to have appointed ISG Totty on the scheme, and with the progress they are making".

"The programme of works for the site demands a tenacious and diligent approach and it was felt that ISG Totty would be able to bring this to the Smithy Wood development".

"We are particularly excited to see the commencement of construction work and are looking forward to the progress that 2007 will bring.".
