ISG bags scheme at Central Retail Park in Rochdale

An ISG plc product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Dec 12, 2007

ISG has secured its first scheme with new client Town Centre Securities, taking a GBP625K project to convert an existing retail unit on the Central Retail Park in Rochdale.

Existing tenant, clothing and homeware store Matalan will remain in occupation throughout the fast-track programme of works, which will see the creation of two new flexible retail outlets over a 15-week period.

Work to create a new entrance for Matalan will enable the store to continue to trade during the construction programme.

ISG will then subdivide the existing large unit by installing fire resistant partition walls to create two new outlets with approximately 970 m and 570 m of respective retail space.

The contractor will form two new glazed entrances for the stores and install new signage, whilst carrying out remedial works to external cladding panels.

The project is due to commence mid-January 2008.

Gary Hughes, regional construction director at ISG Totty Building, commented: "The demand for more flexible and smaller format retail space within out of town shopping destinations continues to drive a buoyant construction sector".

"The company has an enviable track record in the successful completion of fast track retail projects, working effectively within live environments to deliver high quality solutions".
