Dean and Bowes has successfully completed a £1.1 million project at the University of Hertfordshire to refurbish teaching laboratories.

Dean and Bowes has successfully completed a £1.1 million project at the University of Hertfordshire to refurbish teaching laboratories at the College Lane Campus in Hatfield for the School of Pharmacy.

The project saw Dean and Bowes strip out and totally refurbish the top floor of the University's existing chemistry laboratories, installing new floors, ceilings, walls, laboratory benches and fume cupboards.

To provide accommodation for the two large purpose-built laboratories, the company remodelled the entire floor and also created enlarged administration and office space.

Externally, Dean and Bowes re-roofed the entire building, removed and replaced all mechanical and electrical systems on the refurbished floor, and installed two new air-handling units at roof level to enhance ventilation for the laboratories.

Jim Parker, managing director for Dean and Bowes, commented: "The company has secured an increasing tally of education projects over the last 12 months, with complex projects for the University of Hertfordshire and Cambridge University highlighting our ability to deliver specialised facilities on time and within budget.".
