Dean and Bowes Leisure Centre refurbishment
Dean and Bowes has won a 1.2 million pound project from Serco to upgrade facilities at Leyland Leisure Centre in Lancashire.
Dean and Bowes has won a 1.2 million pound project from Serco, acting on behalf of South Ribble Borough Council, to upgrade facilities at Leyland Leisure Centre in Lancashire.
This latest project with Serco and architect Pozzoni Design Group, continues to highlight the growing success of public/private sector partnerships in delivering enhanced community leisure facilities across the UK.
Phase one of the scheme will see Dean and Bowes divide the existing sports hall into two, and construct a mezzanine floor to accommodate a new fitness suite and dance studio across two floors.
The remaining sports hall will be refurbished and existing dry side changing areas upgraded.
All work will be carried out whilst Leyland Leisure Centre remains open to the public.
The second phase of the project sees a complete strip out of the centre's male and female wet changing facilities to create a changing village with new cubicles, lockers, and high specification floor and ceiling finishes.
Dean and Bowes will also improve and redesign the entrance area to enhance accessibility and install new curtain walling to the building's facade.
A significant proportion of the building will also be re-roofed as part of the contract, which is due for completion by December.
Jim Parker, managing director of Dean and Bowes, commented: "There continues to be strong demand within the leisure sector for high quality fit out and refurbishment contractors that have a proven track record in successful project delivery".
"By partnering with private leisure providers, local authorities can receive capital investment in their leisure facilities, which are operated by high quality management teams resulting in increased usage and higher customer satisfaction".
"This translates into enhanced opportunities for Dean and Bowes, with the company working alongside a host of leisure management specialists to deliver high quality schemes across the UK.".
