Nominations
Nominations for the Geospatial Engineering Surveyor Award for 2004 are now being accepted by the Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES).
This prestigious biennial award will be presented to the geospatial engineering surveyor who is judged to have made an outstanding contribution in any of the following geospatial engineering surveying specialisms, either individually or through team leadership: Engineering surveying Land surveying Photogrammetry and remote sensing Hydrographic surveying Cartography and visualisation A candidate will have, within two years prior to the closing date for nominations, made an outstanding contribution in any of the following ways: Working in a senior position with the responsibility for co-ordinating all aspects of surveying/setting-out on a major, high-profile construction project

New Training Courses And Workshops 2004 Programme
The Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) has published its latest programme of training courses and workshops for 2004, which includes six new course titles.
ICES Training Courses and Workshops
The Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors have a free course, Applying for ICES Corporate Member, to seek advice on how to progress to the Institution's Corporate Member grade.
A Selection Panel, which is composed of senior members of the Institution who specialise in the field of geospatial engineering surveying, will judge each application based on a set criteria.
The Geospatial Engineering Surveyor Award selection process is organised by the Institution's Geospatial Engineering Practices Committee (GEPC).
The winner of this award will be presented with the Institution's Richard Carter Prize, which comprises a gold medal, a cheque for £500.00 and a certificate to commemorate their achievement.
The Geospatial Engineering Surveyor Award offers many personal and professional rewards to the successful candidate.
The recipient of last year's award, Richard Maltby MInstCES, looked back to when he received the award in September 2002: "This award has meant a great deal to me personally and professionally," said Richard.
"To receive recognition from fellow professionals for my contribution in a project which I have been involved in for over five years is a great honour and to be presented with the award at the House of Commons was a very special occasion." Richard adds, "Since winning the award, I have been invited by the Institution to join two of its core committees, namely the Education, Training and Membership Committee and the Geospatial Engineering Practices Committee." A copy of the nomination procedures and nomination form for the 2004 Geospatial Engineering Surveyor Award can be obtained from the administrator at ICES Head Office or can be downloaded from the Institution's website at www.ices.org.uk.
The closing date for nominations is 5.00pm on Friday 16th July 2004 and the winning candidate will be announced in Autumn 2004.
