The Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) has approved yet another company training scheme for quantity surveyors, this time for international engineering and construction services company, Volker Stevin Ltd The scheme is designed to structure the training of commercial staff employed by Volker Stevin and is designed in accordance with the recommended guidelines produced by the ICES

Geospatial Engineering Surveyor Award Nominations
Nominations for the Geospatial Engineering Surveyor Award for 2004 are now being accepted by the Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES).
It is intended to assist the firms quantity surveyors deployed on civil engineering projects to progress towards the Institution's full Corporate Member grade.
In order to become a Corporate Member, applicants must demonstrate that they have suitable qualifications and experience to achieve this designation.
A series of Training Guidelines have been prepared by the Institution to offer guidance on the training and experience requirements and standards expected from a candidate applying for the Corporate Member grade.

New Training Courses And Workshops 2004 Programme
The Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) has published its latest programme of training courses and workshops for 2004, which includes six new course titles.
Under these training guidelines, candidates applying for the Corporate Member grade would be expected to satisfy a range of training and experience objectives, as set out in the Institution's Core Training Objectives.
The Core Training Objectives form the basis of all ICES approved training schemes including the scheme now adopted by Volker Stevin.
Once a trainee has successfully completed the scheme, they will be eligible to apply for ICES Corporate Membership.
"The approval of this scheme is part of Volker Stevin's continuing philosophy of staff development which has been formalised through the company's commitment to the principals of the Investor in People initiative", said Volker Stevin's commercial manager, Chris O'Donnell.
Chris adds, "We are delighted that our training scheme has received recognition and approval from the Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors.
We believe that this scheme will offer many mutually rewarding benefits for our employees, the company, the ICES and the industry as a whole." Volker Stevin Ltd has been awarded approval of this training scheme for a five-year period, which will be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that it continues to satisfy the standards set by the Institution and meets the training requirements of Volker Stevin.
