Integral receives ISO 14001 accreditation

An Integral UK product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 23, 2010

Integral UK has received ISO 14001 accreditation for dedication to reducing its carbon footprint by putting systems in place which demonstrate compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

To gain the international standard, Integral UK was independently audited across its nationwide network of UK offices.

Don Urquhart, director of health and safety, Integral UK, who co-ordinated the team responsible for securing the accreditation, said: "Integral UK has always shown its commitment to the environment by implementing various schemes, such as recruiting engineers in all UK postcodes to cut driving times and encouraging employees to recycle as much waste as possible, all with the aim of reducing our overall carbon footprint.

"The nine month process to gain ISO 14001 accreditation was difficult and took many assessments, but was more than worth it to be able to demonstrate our environmental commitment".

"Now we have received this prestigious recognition we are not about to rest on our laurels and we will be carrying out regular reviews of all our carbon and waste outputs to try to reduce our impact on the environment even further".

Bryan Glastonbury, managing director, Integral UK said: "Being awarded ISO 14001 accreditation has proved we are totally committed to reducing our carbon footprint and we will continue to look at new and innovative ways of achieving that aim".
