IT4Automation has recently released a series of low cost compact and rugged Industrial Ethernet switches made by Moxa Networking.

IT4Automation has recently released a series of low cost compact and rugged Industrial Ethernet switches made by Moxa Networking.

The new series consists of 5 port and 8 port switches, which all come in a compact and rugged plastic housing, with DIN-Rail mounting capability, IP30 protection, and 24 Vdc and 24 Vac power inputs.

These switches are easy to use and offer a cost-effective solution for all harsh industrial applications.

The EDS-205 offers 5 RJ45 ports and the EDS208 offers 8 RJ45 ports.

All RJ45 ports have automatic speed selection (10 or 100 Mbits per second) and full duplex/half duplex control, for easy installation with no manual configuration required.

They are ideal for most network applications including, linking together PLC's , HMI's, Control equipment, Drives and Instrumentation and are suitable for use in many diverse markets including Factory Automation, Process Control, Machinery Control, Transportation and Building Automation.

For applications requiring a cable run of greater than 95 metres in distance ( limit of Cat5e cable) , a variant of the 8 port switch is available which has a fibre-optic port, which enables a link of up to 2km to be achieved using multi-mode fibre optic cable.

The EDS-208-M-SC (or ST) offers 7 RJ45 ports and 1 fibre port supporting 100 Base FX multimode fibre.

This switch is available with either SC or ST style fibre connectors.

All devices feature an operating temperature range from -10 to 60C, making them suitable for environments with extreme operational requirements.
