A new service launched by IT Construction Best Practice (ITCBP), aims to demystify new and emerging technologies for the construction industry.

IT Construction Best Practice (ITCBP), the government-funded service that helps construction professionals harness the power of IT, has launched its new, improved web site, providing access to a wealth of new tools and resources.

One of the most exciting features of the new site is free access to ITCBP's micro-site http://www.technology-watch.info.

TechnologyWatch demystifies up and coming technologies and provides a practical insight into how these might be used in the construction industry.

TechnologyWatch features regular updates on a wide range of new and emerging information and related technologies relevant to the construction industry.

These technologies include those that have immediate application, as well as "blue sky" technologies that are still in development but have future potential.

Forthcoming updates will explore the pros and cons of wearable computers, the use of XML and an insight into using GPS satellite positioning in the construction industry.

"We are delighted to offer construction professionals the opportunity to make sense of often complex technologies and to get to grips with how these can deliver practical benefit in the real world," said Dr John Connaughton, Davis Langdon Consultancy, project manager for ITCBP.

"TechnologyWatch meets a clear need in the construction industry for practical, down-to-earth guidance and advice on how new and emerging technologies will impact on every stage of the building process.".
