Fastening systems show their strength

Gary Townley of Lorne Stewart says that before the works commenced it installed around GBP40,000 of temporary lighting in the building using the Spit Pulsa 700E nailers.
Because there is no need to drill and screw the Spit is much faster than traditional methods and outperforms the competition too.
"Compared to doing things the old way, the Pulsa is much, much faster - maybe ten times faster," he says.
The Pulsa is also ergonomically designed so that it is easy to handle one-handed and is available with nails for all types and thickness of substrate and is supported by a wide range of cable and conduit fastening accessories.
The tool allows for prior adjustment of the nail penetration and it automatically adjusts its power to suit the supporting material.
This is an important feature says Gary, on a previous job, using a competitor's product, there was a recurrent problem of the concrete blowing as the nail was inserted.
"The competitor's nailers just weren't responsive and didn't hold off to adjust for the density of the material".
"When we changed to the Spit Pulsa we never had a problem".
"The Pulsa tool is superb".
Now that the Bolton project is moving into the main construction phase, Spit's Tapcon anchoring systems will come into their own.
For supporting cable trays and mechanical services Tapcon Rod Hangers install in less than half the time of conventional drop-in anchors.
The screws cut their own threads in concrete and masonry - which means smaller holes and dramatically reduced drilling times - and insertion and tightening of the anchor is completed in just one quick operation".
"We will be using Tapcon throughout the building on all the mechanical and electrical services supports".
"Around 3000 of them will be used in the basement area alone".
"In places they will be holding up half a ton or more," says Gary.
