GoodWood products are a truly sustainable choice
GoodWood, manufactured by ITC Timber, have achieved Chain of Custody certification under the Australian Forestry Standard.
GoodWood is manufactured from Victorian and Tasmanian re-growth hardwood via technologically advanced operations The AFS accreditation is also mutually recognized under the Program for Environmental Forest Certification (PEFC) on the global stage.
PEFC along with Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certification are the highest environmental certifications available in the world for Timber and Forestry sources.
ITC Limited claims to be Australia's leader in commercial sustainable forestry products based on a a long history of environmental best practice.
This is evidenced by the decision to operate under the Environmental Management System ISO 14001 which is adhered to by both the Forestry and Timber divisions of ITC.
The 170,000 ha of diverse forestry plantations managed by ITC in Australia of teak, sandalwood, red mahogany and bluegum help absorb carbon emissions and form carbon offsets against the Company's operations.
ITC Timber regards timber processing and manufacture in a uniquely holistic way, ensuring that no wood goes to waste.
For example, sawdust is used to power the mill's kilns, reducing reliance and consumption on fossil fuels.
Any surplus is converted into garden products.
This keeps timber waste out of landfill.
Not only is GoodWood 100% Australian grown and processed, it also provides manufacturers with an authentically sustainable choice.
Participating manufacturers of furniture, window frames, flooring and staircases are accredited by ITC Timber and granted permission to use the GoodWood medallion and Certificate of Authenticity on their products once they can demonstrate a total commitment to using sustainable timber.
In a world of illegal logging imports and profit-before-environment philosophies of some manufacturers, GoodWood signifies to consumers their beautiful Australian timber purchase has been sustainably grown, harvested, and produced.
This adds to consumer confidence that purchasing timber products instead of products from other materials only adds positively to the earth by providing a store for carbon indefinitely.
ITC Timber is proud and delighted to participate in the Wood Naturally Better campaign and welcomes any opportunity to educate people about the benefits of choosing and living with timber products, to encourage the use of this wonderful natural material in design and build.
