SuperChord economical roofing from ITC Timber
ITC Timber has developed SupaChord laminated hardwood, produced from sustainable regrowth Australian hardwood, offering an economically friendly soluition for roof truss manufacturing.
"Manufactured as part of the SupaLam range of hardwood products, the new SupaChord beam for truss and roof frame manufacture offers consistency", says ITC Timber's national sales manager, Darryl Ball.
The new sustainable SupaChord hardwood from ITC Timber
"It has been specifically designed for truss bottom chords," Darryl confirmed, "and it has a number of advantages over alternative products on the market.
"It reduces the section size required, has a predictable deflection performance and has been fully proof tested during the manufacture," he continued.
"Fully accredited by Glued Laminated Timber Association of Australia (GLTAA), SupaChord is ideal in bottom chords in girder trusses, long span roof truss components, high load carrying roof trusses and visually exposed feature trusses.
The major features of SupaChord are that it ensures a consistent bottom chord camber, is available in accurate sizes to match other timbers and is exactly straight for faster jig set-up.
"It comes in set length packs up to 7.2 metres and less chord splices are required when using the product".
He added that it is available in H2 LOSP treated with rounded edges for easy handling.
"Plus it is manufactured using a formaldehyde-free clear adhesive".
Currently being incorporated in the software of the three major nailplate suppliers, SupaChord is available in 35mm thickness in widths of 90, 120, 140, 170 and 190 mm.
It comes in lengths on 0.6 increments up to 7.2 metres and is fully dressed on all faces.
Manufactured at the ITC Timber processing operations at Heyfield (Vic), the SupaLam hardwood range also includes SupaLam A17 structural beams and SupaLam GL18C laminated beams.
The SupaLam range of products are available from all major ITC Timber distributors or direct from the mill.
