IFC and Barbour seminar success
CPD Seminar paper highlights the implications that the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 will have on Building Regulations and their application to occupied premises.
International Fire Consultants (IFC) and Barbour seminar success was further strengthened at the end of June by Mr Dave Berry, a Principal Consultant from IFC, when he presented his paper entitled "It meets the Building Regulations - It must be OK for the Fire Regulations - or is it?" at the CPD Road Seminar Tour 2006 in Bristol on behalf of Barbour.
The event was run by The Construction CPD Certification Service.
It was well attended by professionals from Architectural practices, Engineering Consultancies, the Fire service, Building control departments from local councils and many more.
The paper highlighted the implications that the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 will have on Building Regulations and their application to occupied premises.
Mr Berry discussed the approvals process by which the building control bodies and the local fire authorities communicate and disseminate their information to each other even though there is actually no requirement for the building regulations authorities and the enforcers to agree.
One of the main points raised was that the building regulations authority may approve a building, with regards to fire and the fire risk assessor may decide that the building is not fit for purpose.
The session generated huge interest from the floor with many questions being asked.
One particular question which was asked of Mr Dave Berry was this and caused much concern:" What if the building control authority and the local fire authority cannot agree?".
