Jackson's Completes Duxford War Museum Project
Jackson Building Services has completed a £1.3 million, nine-month project to transform the old Armoury building at the Imperial War Museum Duxford.
IP-City was formed in 2000 to encourage investment within the region and promote long term development.
Project champion, Simon Meecham, economic development manager for Ipswich Borough Council explained: "The IP-City Centre is the first of its kind in the UK - the centre is designed to free-up over-subscribed business incubation space, by encouraging those companies that have out-grown such accommodation, to move in to larger units at the IP-City Centre.
Thus allowing new entrepreneurs to go into the freed-up incubation space and enable fast growing companies, to set up a new base and further excel in a dynamic environment." Jackson Construction is set to convert the former distribution warehouse into offices by adding a new mezzanine floor and installing partition walling.
The company will also upgrade the existing mechanical and electrical (M and E) provision within the building and install new windows throughout.
The 30-week project is due to start on site in mid-August.
David Marlow, EEDA's chief executive, said: "Besides working hard to regenerate areas of Ipswich, such as the Waterfront, EEDA and local partners have looked at what needs to be done to provide accommodation for businesses and stimulate the economy.
The IP-City Centre will address these problems and add to the regeneration of the Waterfront by bringing another brownfield land site back into use.
We believe Ipswich is a great place to do business and we are really pleased to be investing in this project." Bernard Clarke, managing director of Jackson Construction, commented: "IP-City has brought investment and enhanced business opportunities to the East Anglian region through the creation of a Cambridge to Ipswich hi-tech corridor.
Regeneration projects to create new business premises are a tangible demonstration of the region's commitment to the scheme and Jackson Construction will play an integral role in IP-City's ongoing success.".
