The St Nicholas Centre is sited on an adjacent plot to the Anglican Church's diocesan offices, with an architecturally striking glass structure or hub, which links these two buildings.
The sympathetic renovation of the Grade II listed building has been cleverly designed to allow for conversion back into a church if demanded, including the installation of new under floor heating and the formation of new access ways into the centre.
The new hub incorporates a walk in cafe bar, with Jackson Building Services creating high specification back of house catering facilities for both the cafe and conference rooms.
New welfare facilities have been added and a library and shop area have been constructed in the former church.
Jackson Building Services has paid special attention to enhancing the new centre's external landscape with the creation of new car parking spaces and soft landscaping.
Michael Manning, Construction Director for Jackson Building Services, explained: "The St Nicholas Centre represented a challenging project due to the historical importance of the building itself".
"The completed conference venue represents an excellent resource for Ipswich and highlights how the adoption of a sensitive and well planned approach can translate into a high quality building solution.".
