Jackson Building Services tops 20m pound milestone with the Orbit Group.

With news of two new projects for the Orbit Group, Jackson Building Services has brought the total value of its longstanding relationship with one of the UK's largest housing association groups past the GBP20 million milestone The successful partnering agreement between the two companies is now over 14 years old and this impressive milestone was reached following the award of two new social housing schemes in Norwich

Working in partnership, the Orbit Group and Jackson Building Services are now building new affordable homes using innovative construction techniques.

Jackson has recently commenced work on an GBP800K project to construct affordable rented accommodation in the city on the site of a former disused car park.

The Orbit Group development, in Leopard Court, will see Jackson build seven, three-storey town houses using modern methods of construction.

The new buildings will be erected using architectural masonry block work on the external elevations with thin joint block work on internal walls, instead of traditional mortar joints.

This increases speed and reduces waste on site, as well as improving sound and thermal insulation.

The project is due for completion in February 2006.

The company has also been awarded a GBP540K scheme for the Orbit Group to construct six, one-bedroom flats on the outskirts of Norwich.

Using timber frame construction methods, Jackson Building Services will commence work on the development, which is on the site of a disused City Council storage yard, in August with a February 2006 completion date.

The new flats will feature an aluminium-clad roof and insulated wood cladding to the external facade.

Michael Manning, Construction Director for Jackson Building Services, explained: "The ongoing success of our relationship with Orbit can be attributed to a flexible approach, allied to a hard working and experienced team consistently delivering high quality projects within time and budget constraints".

"Embracing modern methods of construction is enabling Jackson Building Services to work within Orbit and Government requirements, as well as delivering many schemes in an accelerated timeframe".

"The partnership has delivered an increasing volume of work over the last few years and we look forward to the continuation of this success story.".
