Jackson's Completes Duxford War Museum Project
Jackson Building Services has completed a £1.3 million, nine-month project to transform the old Armoury building at the Imperial War Museum Duxford.
Work will commence immediately during the summer term holidays with the upgrade of the existing tennis courts, and the construction of a new full size floodlit all weather sports pitch.
A new entrance for the centre will also be created and the contractor will construct a temporary fitness studio during this phase of works.
Jackson will then begin work on the construction of the centre's impressive new 'wet facilities', including a 25 metre main pool, a training pool, large changing village, health suite and treatment rooms.
These new facilities will be housed in a two-storey steel frame building with a metal standing seam roof and attractive glass facade, which will seamlessly knit the existing buildings with the new development.
Externally, Jackson will create a large car parking area for leisure centre visitors, as well as incorporating hard and soft landscaping finishes at the site.
The project is scheduled for completion by April 2007.
Bernard Clarke, managing director of Jackson Construction, commented: "The leisure sector continues to prove exceptionally buoyant, with Jackson Construction securing a large volume of key note projects over the last few years".
"This success stems from the company's ability to translate client expectations into high quality building solutions.".
