Jackson Building Services has completed a £1.3 million, nine-month project to transform the old Armoury building at the Imperial War Museum Duxford.
The concrete-framed extension has been designed to blend seamlessly with the existing school and features a pre-cast concrete clad panel facade, as well as a continuous solar shading canopy around the structure.
The building houses a new multi-purpose hall, 10 additional classrooms, sports changing facilities and a SEN speech and language unit.
The project also required the relocation of the school's all weather tennis courts, which were moved several metres further back from their previous position.
With the majority of work carried out during term time, Jackson Construction ensured that health and safety remained a key priority on site, with robust procedures in place and careful scheduling of all deliveries to minimise potential disruption for both staff and students.
Mark Hart, Director of Jackson Construction's Public division, commented: "The completion of the extension at Chafford Hundred concludes the current development plans at the secondary school and adds a number of essential student resources to the well regarded facility".
"It is especially poignant to come back to the school that Jackson's originally constructed five years ago and play a part in the ongoing success story of Chafford Hundred Campus Business and Enterprise College.".
