Jackson's Completes Duxford War Museum Project
Jackson Building Services has completed a £1.3 million, nine-month project to transform the old Armoury building at the Imperial War Museum Duxford.
The first phase of the development requires the demolition of an existing three-storey building at the Goodwin Court site.
Once completed, Jackson will commence the construction of the majority three-storey building, which has been designed around a central courtyard area.
Externally the new building will feature a range of finishes to the facade, including brick, concrete facing tile and timber cladding, and residents occupying ground floor flats benefit from individual patio areas.
With the Extra-Care model based around the concept of self-sufficiency for residents within a context of support when required, the one and two-bedroom flats have their own lockable front doors and include individual kitchen facilities.
Communally, Sanctuary's residents can make use of a gym, laundry, various activity rooms, a large restaurant, hairdressing salon and garden room.
Externally, Jackson will carry out a range of hard and soft landscaping finishes, create a car park and provide secure bicycle storage, with the project scheduled for completion at the end of February 2008.
Phillip Allerton, director of Jackson Construction's Accommodation division, commented: "The company remains firmly at the forefront of delivering high quality and innovative next-generation sheltered housing developments across the south of England.
