Jackson's Completes Duxford War Museum Project
Jackson Building Services has completed a £1.3 million, nine-month project to transform the old Armoury building at the Imperial War Museum Duxford.
The ground floor of the office block will be used for general storage, and one third of the floor area will be given over to a plant installation, with Jackson installing a range of acoustic finishes to the roof and walls surrounding the plant room.
The first floor of the new building will contain office accommodation and Jackson will install a lift and provide part curtain walling to the facade.
The structure will incorporate flood defence measures, with the ground floor raised one metre higher than the profile of the site, due to the building's proximity to a river.
The project is scheduled for completion early in the New Year.
Michael Manning, construction director for Jackson Building Services, commented: "The increasing prominence of Cambridge as cluster for leading biotechnology and research and development companies has provided a wealth of opportunities for high quality building contractors".
