ISG Jackson is celebrating after recently completed Skinners Court ExtraCare housing scheme in Enfield, North London, took top honours in prestigious Evening Standard 'New Homes Awards'.

The project beat the strong competition in the 'Best New Development (Affordable)' category to land the prestigious industry accolade within the housing sector.

The Evening Standard awards recognise excellence across the entire housing spectrum, from the latest luxury homes and best conversions, to the best apartment and small development.

Industry judges used a wide range of criteria to score each development, including design flair, eco-friendliness, innovation, quality of finish and use of space, and the Skinners Court scheme was ultimately judged to be best in class.

The judges commented that 'despite being in a very busy part of London, Skinners Court is quiet and has a very relaxed atmosphere'.

Facilities were also judged to be excellent and were 'in a beautifully designed development that would be an asset to the local area'.

One of the panel also added that it was clear that Skinners Court had 'been created with the residents in mind - a building that comes from the heart'.

The ExtraCare housing facility, which is run by the Skinners' Company, one of the 'Great Twelve' livery companies of the City of London, provides 48 purpose-built apartments for elderly residents.

The building features an impressive range of communal amenities, including an in-house grocery store, hairdressing and beauty salon, health suite and a high specification cinema and cafe bar.

Skinners Court represents the latest generation of high quality 'home for life' accommodation schemes and has been tailored to the specific needs and requirements of its residents, providing flexible and intelligently designed space that promotes independent living within a supportive infrastructure.

The ExtraCare model of support is based around facilities that have been designed to provide progressive levels of support for residents as and when they might require it.

Bernard Clarke, managing director of ISG Jackson, commented: "Recognition for the Skinners Court development at the highest industry levels genuinely reflects the hard work, enthusiasm and commitment of our project team to deliver outstanding results on site".

"ISG Jackson remains at the forefront of innovation within this rapidly expanding sector, working closely with our clients to develop schemes that provide attractive, safe and stimulating environments for residents.".
