Jackson's Completes Duxford War Museum Project
Jackson Building Services has completed a £1.3 million, nine-month project to transform the old Armoury building at the Imperial War Museum Duxford.
To minimise potential disruption to the public, ISG Jackson will erect the steel frame extension across a number of phases, with the four-storey high end sections completed first and then connected together overnight.
Newly occupying retailers will fit out their own store space; however ISG Jackson will complete the main mall area and public facilities to a high standard, installing four public lifts, quality flooring and feature lighting across the public walkways.
The facade of the new extension features curtain walling, cladding panels and render finishes, giving the building a modern contemporary design, with the project scheduled for completion by September 2008.
Chris Harrall, director of ISG Jackson's Commercial division, commented: "The challenging site conditions that we encounter at the Market Gates Shopping Centre demand a robust and highly detailed programme of works".
"Allied to a restricted and busy site location, we are working above a key arterial route into the town centre and need to deliver a phased project to meet the specific requirement of retailers".
"We are confident that once completed, the enlarged centre will attract increasing footfall within the town and ensure Great Yarmouth becomes a true regional shopping destination.".
