A very special limited edition JCB backhoe loader is being produced to mark the company's 60th anniversary - and was unveiled in the UK for the first time at SED The first specially-modified 3CX, complete with a distinctive silver-trim livery, has just rolled off the famous production line at JCB's World Headquarters at Rocester, Staffordshire

Only 60 of the machines - one for each year JCB has been in business - are being produced worldwide.

The high specification 3CX, which has all optional extras fitted as standard, is finished in a distinctive livery which will help it stand out in a crowd.

It has black fenders at the front and back, black axles, a yellow roof and silver wheel rims.

There is a silver JCB logo on the roof and similar logos on the front grille, side door glass and in the cab interior.

Additionally, every machine is fitted with a plaque on the dashboard, engraved with a unique reference number - to represent its limited edition status - and includes the digitally-reproduced signature of JCB Chairman Sir Anthony Bamford.

A JCB spokesman said: "These limited edition backhoes are sure to become collector's items as they are snapped up to celebrate JCB's Diamond Jubilee year".

""A lot of interest had already been generated by the anniversary machine, which features the latest technological innovations developed by JCB, such as six speed Autoshift gear box, Powerslide Sideshift and the brand new lock-up torque converter, which ensures the machine maintains top speed for longer, reducing operating costs.

"This prestigious machine will appeal to a wide range of customers, particularly owner operators who have long-standing relationships with JCB".

The JCB success story began on October 23rd 1945, when the late Joseph Cyril Bamford - universally known as Mr JCB - set up his own company in a lock-up garage in Uttoxeter and went on to make his first product, a tipping trailer which he sold for GBP 45.

From these humble beginnings, the company has flourished and has grown into a major global player in the construction equipment market with factories on four continents and an annual turnover in excess of GBP 1 billion.
