Envirokerb, revolutionary combined kerb drainage system available from JDP, has proven a clear winner with contractors, in a recent major road works project on the A90.

A90 Envirokerb a revolutionary combined kerb drainage system available from JDP has proven a clear winner with contractors, in a recent major road works project on the A90 near Dundee, as part of Transport Scotland's commitment to maintain and improve the trunk road network JDP one of the UK's leading and most respected distributors of above and below ground drainage systems worked closely with management contractors Bear Scotland and with main contractor Ennstone Thistle

Product was supplied from JDPs branch at Inverurie, one of a network of 25 throughout the UK.

Envirokerb is tested in accordance with BSEN1433 with achieved loading of D400 or C250.

With 3 drainage inlets in the face of the kerb unit, it offers great hydraulic performance, enabling surface water to drain more quickly from the carriageway.

It is also lightweight and easy to handle, at 16kgs each (standard depth unit), satisfying current legislation for manual handling on site and avoiding the extra cost and time incurred with vacuum lifters and grabs needed with traditional concrete kerbs.

Faster installation times of approx 500 metres per day were achieved, estimated at twice that possible with conventional kerb edgings.

Overall 1750 metres of Envirokerb were installed and contributed to enable the contractors to complete the 26 day project a full 12 days ahead of schedule leading to significant savings in cost and time.

In its performance in use Envirokerb is strong and robust with the ability to withstand impact damage.

This means that where Envirokerb is used, side loadings will have less of an impact, unlike traditional kerb edgings which tend to be brittle.

On the issue of sustainability and environmental responsibility which now faces contractors, engineers and local authorities, Envirokerb is 100% recycled from plastic waste destined for landfill sites, thereby helping to achieve key recycling targets.

All round Envirokerb can be used in many types of installations, lorry or car parks, urban road schemes, roundabouts, traffic calming situations; it is also a safe choice satisfying the needs of health and safety, being 70% lighter than conventional concrete or polyester concrete, offering high performance and sustainability, all with the added benefit of significant savings in installation time and costs.
