Jeremy Moore Associates project management team worked closely with Bristol Zoo to create a primate enclosure that has helped attract thousands more visitors.

Jeremy Moore Associates (JMA) took on the ambitious project to replace an outdated monkey enclosure with a new facility, equipped with excellent living conditions that would replicate the natural habitats of these creatures As well as this, the building had to be visually interesting for visitors and offer them a sensory experience, which JMA worked hard to achieve

Zoo visitors have commented on the immersive feel the project has created.

The glass panelling allows guests to appreciate the monkeys without looking through intrusive bars.

The Lemur garden is an integral part of the immersive design, as an addition to the enclosure, whereby guests can enjoy studying the lemurs in a barrier-free environment.

Apart from supplying first-class living arrangements, the construction of the Monkey Jungle aimed to help achieve an increase in visitor numbers for the summer 2007 period.

On completion of the Monkey Jungle, the zoo witnessed a huge rise in visitor numbers.

In fact, the impact exceeded expectations, surpassing the predicted 6% visitor rise.

David Harley from Bristol Zoo worked closely with JMA on this project, "JMA were flexible and worked well with us as a partnership on the project".

"They met our needs and expectations, offering valuable advice, cost consultancy and excellent attention to detail when required." Creating excellent working relationships with clients is pivotal to JMA's ongoing success.

Communication throughout the project was continuous, workshop meetings ensured that everyone involved with the project was appropriately informed of issues that concerned them.

Also, accurate, upfront financial reporting enabled design changes to be made before implementation, providing excellent cost control for the client.
