JELD-WEN composite doors at steel door prices
JELD-WEN extends composite door range to include two new styles at steel door prices, specifically developed for housebuilders.
Tony Pell, product manager at JELD-WEN, explains: "This new development opens up huge opportunities for timber stairs to become more widely specified for apartments".
"Timber offers benefits in terms of aesthetics, acoustics and overall performance".
"We look forward to demonstrating the benefits to customers over the coming months".
JELD-WEN offers two styles of communal staircase, a traditional stair with decorative handrail and a more contemporary design to suit the modern apartment.
As the largest manufacturer of timber stairs in the UK, JELD-WEN expects this new development to strengthen the company's position as a provider of complete joinery solutions.
New guidance from the BWF (British Woodworking Federation), which has been released recently, states that communal stairs must meet specific standards in relation to the strength and weight bearing of the flight and the handrail or baluster.
JELD-WEN welcomes this technical guidance, which is designed to promote good practice within the industry, raise standards and prevent the under-specifying of stairs.
Tony Pell continues: "We are one of the first volume manufacturers with test evidence to meet these standards and are excited about the opportunities for the future growth and development of the market for timber stairs".
"We now provide developers of multi-occupancy buildings with access to an even wider product range, with highly specified windows, doors and stairs available from one source.".
