Secure sliding sash windows provided by JELD-WEN

JELD-WEN's Secured by Design specification for its sliding sash windows has enabled a housebuilder to meet social housing security standards on a development near Taunton.

The development of 50 properties being constructed by CG Fry and Son, based in Dorset, is located at what was once part of Kelways Royal Nurseries.

The development was designed in a sympathetic style to its setting, with sliding sash windows specified to retain the original style of the buildings that were part of the street scene.

The timber sliding sash windows complement the traditional style of build where natural stone, brick and clay chimney pots are incorporated to create a development that fits within its locality and will, in time, blend into the local landscape.

JELD-WEN's recently launched Sliding Sash windows with Secured By Design specification were chosen for 18 housing association properties on the development that require enhanced security features, with JELD-WEN's Self Build Design casement windows featured on a number of other properties.

The Secured by Design design means the window now provides enhanced security and is tested to meet the requirements of BS7950:1997.

JELD-WEN offers a full range of sliding sash windows, all of which feature stepped sashes for improved performance, whilst still retaining traditional sight lines.

All JELD-WEN's sliding sash windows are supplied fully glazed with 24mm Low-E insulating glass units that ensure they can comply with the latest building regulations when installed in a new build property.

They also offer excellent thermal performance, with energy rating options available which helps to reduce fuel bills and heating costs in a home.

In addition, all opening sliding sashes can be tilted inwards which is a great way to make cleaning of the glass easier and safer.

As part of its commitment to sustainability, JELD-WEN's sliding sash windows are PEFC Chain of Custody certified.

All sliding sash windows are available with factory finishing, with JELD-WEN offering a six year guarantee on stain finish and 10 year guarantee on painted finishes.

Factory finishing of the windows uses micro-porous water-based stains or paints that allow the timber to breathe, minimising water retention and damp penetration, while promoting longevity, reliability and low maintenance.

JELD-WEN's windows also come with a 40 year rot and fungal decay guarantee and are independently certificated under the BWF Timber Window Accreditation Scheme (TWA), also meeting the performance requirements of the Wood Window Alliance.
