Jewson Is Mowlem's Supplier Of The Year
Builders' merchant Jewson has been named Supplier of the Year in Wales for the second consecutive year by Mowlem, the construction and support services group.
A process that ensures a framework is provided that helps organisations improve performance and realise objectives through the effective management and development of its people - the IIP Standard was gained within only a year of its initial assessment.
Since the programme was implemented in April last year, Jewson's National Service Centre has seen a marked improvement in communication and employee motivation.
Ian McFadyen, Contracts Manager at Jewson who led the IIP project said, "Since implementing the scheme the employees here have developed a real sense of ownership - the scheme has enabled them to become more closely aligned with the business goals of the company and their ongoing personal development plans reflect this".

Leeds Company Builds On Its Success
ACS Stainless manufacture and supply a diverse range of stainless steel structural fixings for use in the construction industry.
A successful move to Leeds has created new jobs.
John Pearson, Managing Director at WMQC - a regional provider of Investors in People advisory and assessment services - said, "The Standard is a very challenging one to meet and widely regarded as a measure of being a quality employer".
"The Standard provides an excellent framework for continuous business improvement, and in achieving it, Jewson has also shown that it has a skilled, flexible and committed workforce that understands the contribution it makes to the success of the company".
A competency level structure was also incorporated, along with succession planning, to demonstrate a clear career progression path for employees.
Each employee within the National Service Centre now has a minimum education level, or is working towards the NVQ Level 2 (Equivalent of 5 GCSE's grade A-C), which shows the commitment Jewson has to quality of service.
McFadyen continued, "Many of our customers also have the IIP Standard and realise its value, especially when working together".
"Our commitment to this Standard also demonstrates the importance of the service we provide to our customers".
Awards won by the National Service Centre after the initial implementation of the programme only go to highlight its significance on contribution to the business.
It recently achieved the Construction Products Association award for Innovation for its Mansell verification system, The Builders Merchants Award for Excellence as Best Service by a Builders Merchant for its OneSource team and the award from Coventry and Warwickshire Training as an NVQ Apprentice employer of the year.
