package

A prestigious and high-profile waterfront development in Leeds is benefiting from efficient heat recovery units and intelligent extract fans from Johnson and Starley The final contract value is expected to top GBP500k The home comfort specialist with a UK manufacturing base successfully undertook a supply and install package during Phase 1 of the development, at Clarence Dock, for M and E contractor Good Marriott Hursthouse

Phase II has seen regular supply of its energy efficient domestic air handling products by Johnson and Starley.

The main contractor, Shepherd Construction, has completed the first two phases of construction for the 600 luxury apartments.

Johnson and Starley has already supplied some GBP250k worth of its HR 155 Heat Recovery Units, together with large numbers of its Dryflow fans.

Unit quantities on order for Phase III are rising rapidly after strong, positive feedback from users and installer personnel.

The contract represents a challenge for both Good Marriott Hursthouse and Johnson and Starley, as the ceiling void into which all of the ductwork has to be fitted is just 90 mm deep.

This unusual requirement meant the systems had to be designed without the freedom to cross the ducts over one another; even though warm, moist air is being extracted from disconnected rooms; the kitchens, main bathrooms and en-suite bathrooms.

The pre-conditioned warm air is then supplied back into the bedrooms and living rooms.

A spokesperson for Good Marriott Hursthouse commented, "The chance to work closely with Johnson and Starley and their ability to provide an easy solution has meant that this project has been free of problems on the energy equipment installation".

The HR 155 is one model in Johnson and Starley's Whole House Heat Recovery System range which can offer energy savings and improved indoor air quality for all types and sizes of property.

Johnson and Starley was established in 1922 and for over 80 years has provided innovation to the UK heating industry.

They offer the complete heating and ventilating range to heating installers and specifiers.
