John Brash and Co, the specialist timber importer and manufacturer will be demonstrating its full range of sustainable timber products at this year's Ecobuild show.

The company, which has been trading for over a century, is the UK's leading manufacturer of roofing battens and scaffold boards and the premier distributor of Cedar Shingles and Shakes, exterior timber cladding, 'long length' carcassing and anti-slip timber decking All John Brash timber products are sourced from renewable, well managed forests with softwood having either Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC)

When buying timber products, it is important to look for the FSC or PEFC logos, together with the chain of custody certification, which verifies that the timber comes from a sustainable source.

Nigel Booth, Marketing Manager at John Brash, explains: "Timber is well recognised as an environmental choice for housing developments because growing trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, the main greenhouse gas, whilst at the same time emitting oxygen".

"Turning this timber into products ensures the carbon dioxide remains locked up in the material itself".

"An increasing number of developers and specifiers are recognising this environmental benefit and using timber to help meet their green build targets".

At this year's Ecobuild the company will be showcasing JB Antislip Plus timber decking which provides enhanced grip on slippery or high pedestrian traffic timber decking areas.

The product has been independently tested by the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) and exceeds the minimum requirement for 'low potential for slip' in both wet and dry conditions.

JB Antislip Plus is available on the company's Softwood (DeckSure), Thermowood and Western Red Cedar structural timber decking.

Visitors to the show will also be able to see the new solid colour JB Antislip Plus inserts that draw attention to certain areas of the deck for both visual, practical and health and safety reasons.

Nigel Booth, Marketing Manager at John Brash, explains: "Ecobuild is a great opportunity to show how our market leading timber products offer huge benefits not just in terms of their sustainability, but also in their performance, design flexibility and health and safety".

"Timber is widely recognised as the only truly sustainable material and this is leading to strong demand from developers across the UK".

John Brash will also be demonstrating its range of Western Red Cedar Shingles and Shakes that are helping housebuilders to create sustainable, durable and well ventilated roofing systems.

Shingles and Shakes are ideal for creating sustainable buildings, due to their lightweight nature, which allows savings to be made on the supporting structure.

In addition, they offer long life and low resource waste which makes them ideal for projects that use lifecycle cost models.

Shingles and Shakes offer a high degree of thermal insulation with a value of K=0.1067 W/mdegC.

Sustainable Western Red Cedar is also prominent in John Brash's timber cladding range and will be on display at Ecobuild.

This material is highly durable and resistant to decay, giving a 60-year service life without the need for preservative treatment.

The company also offers Thermowood cladding that is manufactured from European Redwood and has been treated at a very high temperature to reduce sap and resin levels.

No chemicals are involved in this process that produces a rich warm colour that will last up to five times longer than untreated boards.

John Brash also offer timber cladding in several other species. Request free introductory details about products from John Brash & Co ...
