John Brash scaffold boards meet British Standards
John Brash now only supply scaffold boards that meet British Standard and feature the Kitemark quality symbol.
The move to solely supply British Standard (BS) approved boards follows John Brash's support of the publication of BS 2482:2009: Specification for timber scaffold boards.
John Brash scaffolding boards are manufactured to meet British Standards.
The BS now includes a 1.2m support span for 38mm scaffold boards, in addition to the 1.5m support span for 38mm and 63mm boards that were covered in the earlier version.
A research program to develop grading rules for the 1.2m support span board, the old Grade A board, was conducted by The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and Scaffold Board manufacturers.
The industry has always insisted on BS tube and fittings, but settled on non-BS boards, something that could hold safety implications.
BS 2482:2009 now encourages the industry to opt for BS Boards.
The update coincides with the HSE's fall from height campaign, which encourages employers to use only BS boards.
John Brash is an ISO9001:2000 registered company and also carries the BSI Kitemark.
All John Brash graders are qualified scaffold board graders and the company is reassessed twice annually by the BSI.
Every John Brash machine graded board has a unique inkjet printed lot number, ensuring full traceability.
