Awards for painting and decorating
professionals
Elite of the painting and decorating industry have been recognised at 25th annual Johnstone's Painter of the Year awards.
Organised by leading paint manufacturer Johnstone's, the prestigious event celebrates the creative talents and quality workmanship of the UK's painting and decorating professionals Over 100 submissions were received from companies that had used either Johnstone's or Leyland paints to complete contracts throughout 2007 and, after being carefully reviewed by members of Johnstone's technical team, 16 finalists were selected to attend the award ceremony on March 29th 2008 at The Grove Hotel in Hertfordshire

The major winner of the night was Doncaster based company J Ibbotson , who was awarded with the prestigious accolade of 'Supreme Winner' after being recognised in the Refurbishment category for its decorative work on the stunning Royal Hall project in Harrogate.

National Museums Liverpool for the Chinese Arch, Nelson Street, Liverpool.
Greg Molyneux, PPG Architectural Coatings UK and Ireland Managing Director commented: "The work submitted by a diverse customer base in this year's event clearly demonstrates the professionalism and craftsmanship of decorators, as well as giving me a great deal of confidence in the future of the industry".

This year's event started with a golf tournament, sponsored by Pliolite on the venue's famous Golf Course, after which golfing attire was swapped for black tie for the champagne reception, meal and stunning evening presentation.
Following the announcement of the winners, up and coming comedian Michael McIntyre took to the stage to entertain the 300-strong audience.
