A J and S Seddon training centre will hold a course focusing on heritage work for decorative finishes offered by Ann Cook Associates.

Ann Cook Associates will offer two-day courses at the Centre of Excellence, located at J and S Seddon's headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent, from November.

Tuition in conservation, restoration, stencilling, gilding, graining, marbling and wallcoverings will all be included.

The course has been developed for experienced decorators and marks the start of a nine month long programme of training and assessment towards an NVQ Level 3 in Heritage Skills.

A spokeswoman from Birmingham-based Ann Cook Associates Limited said: "Next year, English Heritage will encourage contractors who work on their estate to use individuals who hold a Heritage Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), so it is an important development for the industry".
