KABA grand entrance at prestigious London hotel
Leading door manufacturer and supplier Kaba Door Systems, has completed installations at the prestigious new Riverbank Park Plaza Hotel in London.
The hall has recently been refurbished to provide 414 postgraduate study bedrooms and flats in addition to the 454 refurbished undergraduate rooms in the original hall, and other facilities including a restaurant.
Kaba's 1.2metre high pass gates were required to provide secure access for resident students living in the hall.
They replaced a low level manual gate, which people could simply step over to gain access.
By using pass cards to enter the building, the new entrance is also integrated with an electronic identity system that allows university staff to monitor who is in the building at any one time.
In addition to providing secure access, the gates also have a manual lock on one of the leaves, enabling them to be completely opened up to allow cleaning machines into the hall.
Plus, the new entrance system has helped the university to meet its obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
"By preventing unauthorised access, the new pass gates provide a safe haven that supports the safety and welfare of residents from all over the world," said David Hart, head of special projects at the university.
"Access control is just one of the methods of care adopted by the university's administration to look after resident students".
"The completed job serves our purposes admirably." Kaba Door Systems has over 80 years international experience in the design, manufacture and installation of a leading range of commercial and industrial door systems.
With regional centres across the UK, Kaba also offers a nationwide entry repair and maintenance service.
The company is a member of the Automatic Door Suppliers Association (ADSA) and is NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (PASA) approved.
