Katronic KATflow measures energy consumption

A Katronic Technologies product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 26, 2009

Katronic has introduced a new fixed installed ultrasonic clamp-on flowmeter suitable for temperature related energy consumption measurements.

The KATflow 150 is an adjustable meter which can be easily installed to existing and new HVAC systems.

As the flow and temperature sensors are simply clamped onto the pipe wall, there is no need to shut the system down for installation.

Additionally, as the flowmeters are virtually maintenance free, building operators do not have to be concerned about a loss of accuracy or an upcoming need for inspection as it is usually the case with inline meters.

The sensors are suitable for pipes of various materials including all common metals, plastics and flexible hoses.

They can cover a pipe diameter range form 10 mm to 3,000 mm and can measure the flow of all common heating and cooling liquids including water, glycol, refrigerants and CIP chemicals with flow velocities down to 0.01 m/s.

Due to its three process output options (current, digital open collector and digital relay), the KATflow 150 can be embedded into process monitoring and regulation applications helping to improve the efficiency of HVAC systems.

As a result, significant savings in energy consumption and thus in operational costs of the building can be achieved.

As this goes along with reductions in carbon emissions, the KATflow 150 also contributes to an increased environmental credibility and lower tax bills.
