Kawneer has launched its fully unitised AA4001 Framing system, designed in line with the Department for Education's 'Building Schools for the Future' initiative.

Unitised assembly of the AA4001 offers the distinct advantage of factory fabrication ensuring additional quality control and rapid on-site installation, whilst the concealed vent provides optimum safety and airflow, complying with environmentally friendly classrooms BB95.

This robust system, designed for endurance, also meets the requirements of Document L and Part J (Scotland) of the Building Regulations and acoustics BB93.

The AA4001 offers the advantage of fully unitised assembly, uses shear block construction for quick and easy fabrication and is a fully drained and pressure equalised system.

Installed and glazed to Kawneer recommended procedures, the system has been tested in accordance with BS 6375, offering optimal weather performance.

Kawneer's AA4001 Framing system is ideal for all refurbishment projects, including hospitals, health centres and also those in the 'Building Schools for the Future' initiative that will see schools rebuilt, remodelled or upgraded to provide flexible, inclusive and attractive learning environments.

Designed with aesthetics in mind, the AA4001 allows for flexibility in design, with snap on glazing beads accommodating various infill panels such as terracotta, wood, brick or even stone up to 72mm, resulting in total system flexibility.

In addition, with 22mm to 38mm glazing options with EPDM gaskets, specifiers can be assured that the AA4001 Framing system will perform to the highest regulatory standards, whilst providing a unique and aesthetic solution.

The AA4001 is a UK engineered system, manufactured in the UK and tested to stringent UK market requirements, including BS EN 12207:2000 Class 4, Air Permeability; BS EN 12208:2000 Class 9A, Watertightness and BS EN 12210:2000 Class C4, Resistance to Windload.

Maria Morgan, Senior Product Manager at Kawneer commented: "Following extensive market research, we discovered that the market needed a system that provided innovation through unitised construction.

Therefore, the main aim of the AA4001 Framing system was to introduce greater design options to specifiers and provide a system to be utilised in the construction or refurbishment of hospitals, health centres and schools that not only performs but is aesthetically pleasing.

"A cross functional product development team provided design concepts to ensure that the final product offered an innovative solution for now and for the future.

"Including three methods of build - traditional stick build, semi unitised and fully unitised, the AA4001 provides total product flexibility, ensuring all market segments can benefit from this truly unique system, that is the first fully unitised framing system on the market today.

"Overall, the new AA4001 offers innovation in design, outstanding performance and speed and ease of fabrication and installation." The AA4001 Framing system is also available in over 130 standard and 31 metallic Kawneer Permacover polyester powder paint finishes.

A comprehensive range of Kawneer Permanodic standard and coloured anodised finishes are also available, all covered by Kawneer's standard guarantee, providing unlimited versatility in design.

All Kawneer products are fabricated and installed by a network of trained authorised Kawneer dealers, offering national support at a local level - a unique service to the industry.
