Fire-resistant version of its popular AA 100 curtain walling system has been unveiled by leading architectural aluminium systems supplier Kawneer.

A fire-resistant version of its popular AA 100 curtain walling system has been unveiled by leading architectural aluminium systems supplier Kawneer.

AA 100 Firescreen has been tested to both UK and European fire standards by the world-renowned Warrington fire research centre to BS 476-22 using "Pyrostop" glass at 1.4 metres by 2.2 metres, and by the centre for Fire Safety in Delft, Holland, to Pr EN 1364-3 using "Swissflam lite" glass.

It was certified fire resistant with 30 minutes' integrity, restraining fire to the fire side of the curtain walling, and 30 minutes' insulation, keeping heat transference to a minimum from one side to the other.

The AA 100 system, which is popular with architects and specifiers because of its 50mm sightlines, has already been tested and certified to the relevant BS EN and CWCT standards for air permeability, watertightness (static and dynamic) and wind resistance (serviceability and safety).

Suitable for vertical applications including facetted walls, the Firescreen version, which is dry-jointed and available in a zone drain option, removes installers' reliance on on-site sealing and ensures excellent performance in even the most challenging weather conditions.
