The elite of the roofing and cladding industry once again came together to celebrate the 2006 Teamkal Awards.

Launched last year to acknowledge the 10th anniversary of Kalzip's approved installer network, the elite of the roofing and cladding industry once again came together to celebrate the 2006 Teamkal Awards, held as part of Kalzip's annual conference that took place at the Carden Park Hotel, in Chester on 10th October.

Divided into two separate groups, the awards were introduced to celebrate the talents of the 54 companies that comprise Teamkal and to encourage best practice across the network.

The first category of awards is to acknowledge the 'Teamkal Contractor of the Year' and is determined by extensive customer research conducted by Kalzip prior to the event.

The winners of the second group, the 'Teamkal Nominated' awards, require members of the network to enter projects or individuals that they feel are worthy of recognition.

All submissions were then assessed by an expert panel of judges, which this year included Paul Hargreaves (Stanhope Plc), Andy Hazlehurst (Kier Group), Stuart McLarty (DNA Architects) and Julian Seward (Swanke Haydon Connell).

The major winner of the night was Aberdeen based Fowler McKenzie, who were awarded with the prestigious accolade of '2006 Contractor of the Year'.

Highly commended for the same award was the 2005 winner, Sterling Building Systems , with Hathaway Roofing also acknowledged.

The customer research led awards also honour companies that have recently joined the Teamkal network and, showing outstanding presence, as a 'newcomer' was Marksman Roofing and Cladding who were presented with the accolade of 'New Contractor of the Year'.
