Kalzip launches perforated facades
Innovative, low-maintenance and lightweight facade system capable of transforming even the dullest of buildings into striking landmarks has been launched by Kalzip.
Kalzip perforated facades allow specifiers to give a new lease of life to existing buildings or a contemporary feel to new ones, ranging from multi-storey car parks and plant rooms to educational and commercial establishments.
A more cost-effective solution than the traditional steel and timber facade systems, the perforations not only create a subtle veiled effect through which both natural light and air can penetrate but also offer protection against the harsh effects of the weather.
Ideal as a lightweight sun shading solution, the system offers bespoke protection against excessive solar gain through glass facades while helping to reduce wind loads, particularly in exposed areas.
The aluminium itself is inherently resistant to corrosion and performs particularly well in environments such as coastal areas.
By contrast, the introduction and creative use of lighting behind the facade in an evening adds a whole new dimension and feel a stunning serenity - to the building envelope.
Suitable for a range of applications from cantilever roofs to internal ceiling and wall cladding and even wind breaks for bridges, Kalzip perforated facades are available in four Kalzip standing seam profiles as well as the TF37/800R cladding sheet.
The two standard thicknesses, 1.0mm and 1.2mm, can be concave and convex curved and are available in a stucco embossed, patina or colour coated finish.
The perforations have been achieved without compromising the robustness, durability or maintenance-free qualities of the sheets and, like all Kalzip sheets, they can easily be unzipped at the end of the building's life and either reused or recycled.
