"Next Generation" Roof Edge Protection

A Kee Safety product story

Kee Klamp Ltd has announced a breakthrough in roof edge protection with its new KeeGuarda modular system.

Fully complying with all relevant European safety standards, the new KeeGuarda system features both fewer and lighter components than previous systems for quicker, easier and more cost-effective installation.

Kee Klamp Ltd has also improved the system's aesthetics to ensure the new KeeGuarda system provides a more sympathetic and unobtrusive appearance on all buildings.

The new KeeGuarda system now comprises just three principal pre-fabricated components - a main upright, a main counterbalance and a free end assembly, designed for use on runs of 6m and above where no wall fixing is available.

All assemblies are designed for use with 42.4 and 48.3 o/d diameter tubing and standard fittings from the Kee Klamp range to provide a complete, easy to assemble solution in roof edge guardrailing, walkway demarcation, stairwell, open lift shaft and other fall prevention applications.

The system also allows for integral kickboard fixing to save even greater time and cost on site.

The new lightweight counterbalance assemblies are ergonomically designed for a more attractive system appearance.

The innovative KeeGuarda system now also features adjustable uprights which allow up to 11 degree raking movement.

This raking capability ensures a more discreet system appearance from ground level, which can be an important requirement, especially on landmark or prestigious building applications.

The system remains completely free-standing, working on the proven counterweight principle, to provide secure protection in all applications.

Fully tested to HSE Specialist Inspectors Report No 15, KeeGuarda complies fully with the requirements of HS (G) 33 - Safety in Roofwork, HSE Sheet 21 - "Working on Flat Roofs", BS6399: Part 2 1995 Wind Code and all other relevant Health and Safety, EU and CDM regulations.

All assemblies utilise fittings approved by TuV, Europe's leading independent test house, for extra peace of mind.

The new KeeGuarda system is ideal for new or existing roof structures, and versatile enough to adapt to most roof edge profiles and changes in levels.

Sections can be easily taken down and re-erected as necessary, should existing buildings or roof areas be extended or altered in any way.

Because the system is free-standing, there is no roof membrane penetration during installation, minimising the risk of leakage or damage to the roof covering.

All areas in contact with the roof also feature a protective anti-slip rubber pad, as standard.

The new KeeGuarda system is extremely durable.

The system utilises a galvanised finish for long lasting, reliable performance.

In addition, Kee Klamp fittings are supplied with case hardened steel grub screws incorporating KeeKoat II protection which provides outstanding corrosion resistance and a strong, rigid, maintenance free connection for the lifetime of an installation.

Since it requires no special skills or tools, the new KeeGuarda system is well suited for assembly by the customer's in-house or external contracting team or by Kee Klamp's own installation team.

As well as the new KeeGuarda system and the established Kee Klamp fittings range, the company also provides tubular solutions for interior or exterior balustrading applications with its Keenect and Keeline systems.

Kee Klamp Ltd is certified to BS EN ISO 9001 and is recognised as an Investor In People.
