Kee Klamp Keenect System Scores Top Marks

A Kee Safety product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Oct 9, 2003

Kee Klamp Ltd's Keenect balustrade system has once again proved to be best in class at Coombe Hill School in Kingston.

As part of a major new extension project at the popular primary school, this high quality balustrading solution has scored top marks for aesthetics, safety and versatility following a wide-ranging exterior installation covering both walkways and balcony areas.

To accommodate recent growth at Coombe Hill School, a new building has been constructed to contain six additional classrooms for children in years 5 and 6.

A key part of this development is the series of ramps which lead up to the new building.

The installation of Kee Klamp Ltd's Keenect system alongside these access ramps ensures a strong, secure handrail for all users, while the system is comfortably able to cope with the tight angles and gradients on each slope.

The system's versatility was also important on balcony areas in the new building where it has integrated with weld mesh panels to ensure optimum safety standards for staff and pupils.

Kee Klamp Ltd can provide the Keenect system in a full choice of RAL colours to suit client requirements.

At Coombe Hill School, it is supplied in a smart, black finish which co-ordinates with the building exterior.

This colour choice also ensures high visibility of the system to help maximise child safety.

Since the Keenect system is completely modular, it is straightforward to assemble and gives a smooth, final appearance with no obvious visible joints.

It utilises two, exclusive patented parts: a handrail connector and a post top joint.

The handrail connector is inserted into the handrail whenever a change in direction is required.

Any combination of elbows can be attached to this connector forming a strong smooth joint and allowing for very tight bends.

This simple assembly method eliminates the need for specialist bending or welding skills, keeping installation time and disruption at Coombe Hill School to a minimum.

Kee Klamp Ltd's own installation team working in conjunction with Caterham-based company, Buxton Building Contractors, completed the project.

The Keenect system offers considerable choice in balustrading and handrail design and specification.

Ideal for both interior and exterior applications, the Keenect system is supplied with an extensive range of in-fill options and a comprehensive selection of colours to suit virtually any design scheme.

Kee Klamp Ltd's Keenect system meets the relevant sections in standards, BS8300, BS6180, BS6399 Part 1 and the Building Regulations.

Kee Klamp Ltd offers a full technical advice and design support service.
