Kee Klamp fittings from Kee Klamp have carded an impressive score for versatility in the construction of 48 new driving range bays at the TopGolf Game Centre in Addlestone, Surrey.
The new TopGolf Game Centre is a recent re-development of the former Surrey Golf and Fitness site, which has seen the creation of a new hi-tech driving range, 9-hole golf course and fitness centre.
Building owners Baydrive, working in partnership with Project Managers, Jeff Mason Design Associates (JMDA) and architects, Limbrick Limited, specified the Kee Klamp fittings for use in the new driving range bays.
Providing a more versatile alternative to pre-fabricated framing, the fittings help create tubular structures which divide up the internal driving bay areas and provide support for seating, poster frames and signage.
The wide variety of fitting types and their compatibility with different tube sizes ensured that the precise arrangement of framing required for the functionality of the scheme could be easily achieved.
After a mock-up using size 8 tube and fittings, the project team decided appearance would be improved if the tube diameter was reduced to size 7.
Also, the versatility of the Kee Klamp fittings range, incorporating special crank and end fittings, proved significant, eliminating the need for any costly one-off fabrications.
All fittings and tube were powder coated to create a high quality, aesthetically attractive appearance with no on-site finishing required.
"We felt that using Kee Klamp fittings, effectively a sectional off-the-shelf system of components, would give us better quality control and enable more flexibility on site than if we opted for a pre-fabricated framing solution" says Ian Green of JMDA.
"This supposition was entirely justified by the end result".
The whole construction was quickly and efficiently completed by the main contractor, Phelan Construction, without the need for any specialist help.
All fittings within the versatile and extensive Kee Klamp product range incorporate an integral socket set screw which locks the fitting securely onto its tube, eliminating the need for time consuming welding or specialist installation skills.
A standard hex ratchet and tube cutters are the only tools required to create strong, rigid structures.
This approach helps keep structure assembly time down to an absolute minimum and reduce costs whilst giving an excellent slip load performance.
