Reading-based Kee Klamp has installed its attractive Keenect system at Surrey's Chipstead railway station to ensure optimum safety, guidance and a smart, clean-looking handrail for passengers using the station.

With a good commuter service to London from Chipstead, the small station in Surrey sees a constant flow of people passing through on a daily basis.

Installation of the Keenect system is part of a renovation programme to improve access to the station.

It extends for over 75m alongside a newly installed ramp to provide improved station access for travellers of all ages and abilities.

The Keenect system ensures a strong, smooth and reliable handrail for all users that easily copes with the gradient and changes of direction required on the ramp.

At the same time, it gives a smart, aesthetically-pleasing appearance with its in-fill rails and finish in a stylish, high visibility green.

The system was specified by project contractor Mass Contracts for client Southern Rail.

Because the Keenect system is fully modular, it's assembly requires virtually no welding, and no cutting or bending on-site.

This helped to significantly reduce time and minimise disruption at Chipstead station, where the system coped ably with the required changes in angle and direction.

A handrail connector is inserted into the handrail whenever a change in direction is required.

Any combination of elbows can be attached to this connector forming a strong, sleek, smooth joint and allowing very tight bends.

The Keenect system can be supplied with an extensive range of additional in-fills and a comprehensive selection of colours to suit different tastes and interior or exterior requirements.

The Keenect system offers great choice and adaptability in balustrading and handrail design and specification, and provides architects and designers a truly versatile system to suit any application.

It features clean, smart lines and, because of its robust construction, will be safe and hardwearing throughout its lifetime.

It is ideal for interior and exterior applications, such as staircases, landings, ramps, balconies and parapets.

The standard Keenect system and various in-fill options are available in a full range of polyester powder coated colour finishes or combination of RAL colours.

Kee Klamp 's Keenect system meets the relevant sections in standards, BS8300, BS6180, BS6399 Part 1 and the Building Regulations.
