Kee Klamp has helped Islington Council meet DDA requirements with new tubular handrail system at Whittington Park, created using components from its 500 Series.

The new handrailing structure has been fitted alongside an access ramp at the Park's recently built football pitch, ensuring safe access for all users A GBP500,000 project to improve facilities at Whittington Park has seen the successful introduction of a new artificial football pitch, complete with a new access ramp and handrailing

Installed by contractor Spade Oak Duracourt, over 65 linear meters of handrailing has been fitted to ensure safe access for all visitors using the facility.

Constructed using components from the popular Kee Klamp 500 Series, in accordance with DDA requirements, the new structure is providing safe and easy access for users and a visible, reliable handhold for all.

Jim Bennett, Contracts Manager at Spade Oak Duracourt said "Safety was a primary concern when constructing the new football pitch in the park, especially as it's full of people rushing around, including those with physical disabilities".

"The 500 Series fittings enabled us to design and assemble a safe and strong solution quickly and easily which meets the Building Regulations requirements and complies with the DDA specification".

"It looks great too." The Kee Klamp 500 Series is designed to give a smooth handrail with size 7 tube (outside diameter 42.4mm).

It comprises a total of sixteen components and is supplied with versatility, ease and speed of installation in mind.

All components can be powder coated in a choice of RAL colours to meet the visibility and "not cold to the touch" requirements of the DDA.

At Whittington Park, they are finished in white which gives an attractive appearance.

Ideal for use in creating new structures, the range can also be used as a retrofit solution, because it includes an offset component which allows a new handrail to be added onto an existing structure of appropriate size.

When and where required, the 500 Series can be easily augmented with components from the established Kee Klamp range to create a complete, cost-effective answer to DDA requirements.

As well as the DDA 500 Series of handrail components, the company also provides tubular solutions for roof edge protection with its popular KeeGuard system, and for interior or exterior balustrading applications with its Keenect system.

Kee Klamp is a part of a global safety group that specialises in separating people from hazards, is certified to BS EN ISO 9001 and is recognised as an Investor In People.
