Keeguard System for Buckinghamshire hospital
Health and safety of all rooftop workers is now permanently assured at a Hospital in Buckinghamshire, thanks to newly installed KeeGuard roof edge protection system from Kee Klamp.
The KeeGuard system has been installed to help protect maintenance workers as well as ensuring optimum safety for fire escape users in the event of an emergency.
Over 70 linear metres of the KeeGuard system now surrounds the roof edge of the medium secure unit.
Maintenance contractors can now safely carry out any repairs or routine maintenance to rooftop plant and other services at a greatly reduced risk of falling from height.
The KeeGuard system is also quick and easy to erect, which kept installation noise and disruption to a minimum for staff and patients.
The installation is a prime example of the versatility of the KeeGuard system displaying its adaptability as a modular solution, able to cope with the different roof edge profiles, numerous changes in direction and levels.
The KeeGuard system comprises just three principal pre-fabricated components - a main upright, a main counterbalance and a free end assembly, where no wall fixing is available.
All assemblies are designed for use with 42.4 and 48.3 o/d diameter tubing and standard fittings from the Kee Klamp range to provide a complete, easy to assemble solution in roof edge guardrailing, walkway demarcation, stairwell, open lift shaft and other fall prevention applications.
Because it is free-standing, it requires no drilling into the roof itself, thereby avoiding potential leaks into the building due to any damage to the roof covering.
The KeeGuard system is fully tested to EN 14122 : pt 3, HSE Specialist Inspectors Report No 15, and complies with the requirements of HS (G) 33 - Safety in Roofwork, HSE Sheet 21 - "Working on Flat Roofs", BS6399: Part 2 1995 Wind Code and all other relevant Health and Safety, EU and CDM regulations.
All assemblies utilise fittings approved by TuV, one of Europe's independent test houses, for extra peace of mind.
