International welding equipment manufacturer, Kemppi OY in Lahti, Finland, whose UK subsidiary, Kemppi (UK) is based in Bedford, has announced the launch of a brand new Worldwide welding competition to run until the end of November 2007, in which entrants will be invited to fabricate and weld a F1 style aluminium racing car.

The competition is being run in conjunction with the Ethihad Alder Spyker F1 team, who Kemppi is sponsoring during the 2007 season.

The judging panel will comprise senior technical personnel from the F1 racing team as well as Kemppi's own welding experts.

The Competition is open to entrants (male/female) from around the World from distributors, fabricators, students, DIY enthusiasts or anyone who is able to weld.

The winner will be awarded two tickets to the Formula One Grand Prix in Malaysia in 2008.

The second prize is a Kemppi MasterTig MLS 2300 AC/DC welding machine package and the third prize a MinarcTig 180 welding machine.

In addition to three main prize-winners, five lucky draw winners will be invited to the 'Kemppi Formula One World Welding competition', a Go Kart racing event to be held in Helsinki, Finland during the winter 2008.

The winner at this event will be awarded the 2008 Kemppi Master Challenge Trophy.

To enter, all entrants will have to purchase a Kemppi MasterTig MLS 2300 AC/DC digitally controlled single phase 230V inverter power source for MMA and TIG AC and DC welding and receive a 'flat packed' ready to weld aluminium laser cut racing car kit.

The competition is all about welding and craft skills with forming of certain shapes being required.

Entrants will be encouraged to develop the standard kit and improve the design and detail of the model - the best models will win.

Entrants will be required to send in a photo image of their model under construction and as the finished model, plus an image of their Kemppi welding equipment and its serial number.

All entries judged as finalists will then be invited to send their models to Kemppi's Head Office in Finland for final judging.

Rules and conditions for entering the competition are posted on the Company's website under the 'Motor Sports Pages' John Frost, Director, Sales and Marketing said: "This competition is all about a personal challenge, enjoyment and craft skill".

"We want individuals to test their welding skills against some of the best welding craftsmen from around the World.".
